Kinklet ("we," "us," or "our") operates the web application at kinklet.app (the "Service"). Kinklet is a free, volunteer-run project that provides a swipe-based quiz for exploring personal preferences related to intimacy, kink, and desire.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we protect it, and your rights regarding that information. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.
When you complete the quiz, your selections (kink preferences, role orientation, and tier rankings) are saved to our database to enable features like result sharing and partner comparison. These results are anonymous by default — they are not linked to any personal identity unless you choose to sign in.
If you choose to sign in via email magic link, we collect and store your email address through our authentication provider (Supabase Auth). This links your quiz results to your account so you can access them later. No passwords are stored — we use passwordless email-based authentication only.
During sign-in, you may optionally opt in to receive occasional updates about new features. This preference is stored with your account and you can withdraw it at any time by contacting us. We will never send marketing emails unless you explicitly opt in.
With your consent, we use Vercel Web Analytics to collect anonymized, aggregate usage data (page views, referrer information, browser type, country-level location). Vercel Analytics is privacy-focused: it does not use cookies, does not track individual users across sessions, and does not collect personal information. You can opt out of analytics via the consent banner shown on your first visit.
We use your browser's local storage to remember preferences such as your age verification status, analytics consent choice, and quiz state during a session. This data never leaves your device.
We acknowledge that data concerning sexual preferences and orientation constitutes special category personal data under Article 9 of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and equivalent laws. This type of data receives the highest level of protection.
We process this data solely on the basis of your explicit consent, which you provide by voluntarily completing the quiz and choosing to save your results. You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting your profile (see Section 8 below).
Anonymous quiz results (not linked to any account) cannot be traced back to you. If you sign in and link results to your email, you can delete both at any time.
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, automated decision-making, or any purpose other than providing and improving the Service.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share data only with:
We may also disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the safety of our users.
Your data is stored on Supabase's infrastructure (cloud servers). Data may be processed in the United States. We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), row-level security policies in our database, and minimal data collection principles.
No method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Kinklet does not use traditional tracking cookies. We use browser local storage for functional purposes only (age verification status, consent preferences, session state).
Vercel Web Analytics, when enabled with your consent, is a cookieless analytics solution. It does not place cookies on your device or track you across websites.
Supabase authentication may use session tokens stored in local storage to maintain your login session. These are strictly functional and are removed when you sign out.
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
To delete your data: If you have an account, you can delete your profile and all associated data from the My Profile page. For anonymous profiles (no account), the data cannot be traced to you. For any other requests, contact us at privacy@kinklet.app.
If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
We retain your data only as long as necessary to provide the Service:
The Service is intended for adults aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you are under 18, you must not use the Service.
If we become aware that we have collected data from a person under 18, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, please contact us at privacy@kinklet.app.
Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside your country of residence, including the United States, where our service providers operate. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer. We ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your data in accordance with this Privacy Policy and applicable laws.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
